Covid-19 Update

COVID-19 UPDATED: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and my desire to support community health by ‘social distancing’ my offices will temporarily be providing services exclusively via online ‘video telehealth’ counseling sessions. If you have a scheduled appointment, it will become a video telehealth session where you will be able to have a live video session with your provider as long as you have a phone, computer or tablet with video capability.

Is This You?

Faking It On The Outside, But Dying on the Inside? Counseling Can Help.

People looking at you from the outside might think you have it all… a family, a home, a career, and yet on the inside you are dying a slow death. If anyone really knew you they would see that you are “completely faking it.” Your sex life is lifeless; you hate your job; so you isolate, watch too much TV, look at porn and drink more than you should. Perhaps you have even have had an affair (or just thought about it). You do whatever it takes to distract you from that inner-pain because at a core level, you are terrified of being found out….So you just go on pretending like everything is just fine…until you explode. If this is you, counseling can help.

If this sounds like you, guess what? You’re not alone, and there is hope. It is possible to become a better person, a better parent, and to like even who you see in the mirror.

Hi, my name is Chuck Chapman and I’m a counselor working with people just like you in Clackamas Oregon and the surrounding areas. I work with men and women, helping them find ways to shed the guilt and shame and overcome feelings of anxiety and depression that is holding them back.

Finding the right counselor is important; seeing a counselor can feel daunting because exposed emotions can be painful.  We work together to create a safe space where you can share what’s going on without feeling judged or shamed.  We collaborate to develop a plan that works for you.  Whether you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, addiction or communicating with your partner, seeing a counselor can be a powerful way to explore and find solutions for overcoming barriers that keep you stuck. I’m passionate about what I do because seeing people grow, change and live from a place of authenticity is amazingly gratifying.  My hope is that you walk away from the counseling experience with tools that will help you have a better life.

My sole purpose and hopeful intentions in counseling are to contribute toward helping people live better lives.

You don’t have to wait one more day; give me a call at 503-804-4133 and let’s get you back on track. I am happy to provide you with counseling at my office in South East Portland. I am also able to provide Teletherapy over a secured video chat via computer, smartphone or iPad.   Providing Counseling in Portland Oregon and the surrounding areas. About Me

Chuck Chapman

Licensed Professional Counselor

Hi, I’m Chuck. I am a licensed professional counselor who serves Clackamas, Portland and the surrounding areas. I wasn’t always a counselor. In fact several years ago I found myself in a dark place full of pain. I had built a house of cards that quickly fell apart and when I looked in the mirror I loathed the guy looking back at me. I was hiding my true self from the people who love me, I felt alone, I felt afraid, and I felt like a fake.

Through my own therapy and recovery, I found there were reasons behind my behaviors. I learned ways to overcome my character flaws, and slowly I began to forgive myself and even came to the point where I liked who I had become. This experience was a gift and I dedicated myself to helping others and passing that gift on. My hopeful intent is to help people find freedom from guilt and shame and live from a place of authenticity and truth.

Today my life is amazing! I found the love and acceptance that I had longed for all my life. I am truly grateful to be living my dream and hope to help others come to the same place.

So here are some professional details about me….

I hold a B.S. Human Development from Warner Pacific College

I also hold an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from George Fox University

I am a certified No More Mr. Nice Guy Recovery Coach

I am currently registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists and recognized as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of the American Counselor Association.

Counseling For Men

You know that feeling when you’re driving along and the check engine light comes on? You understand that something is wrong, but you might need someone to give you a little direction as to how to solve the problem. Going to see a counselor is kind of like taking your car to a mechanic.

The truth is that sometimes being a man is difficult…I know, I am one. As men, we often struggle with our confidence especially when it comes to things like being in a relationship, talking about money and yes….even sex. There’s often an unspoken assertion that we are just supposed to know how to fix these things so we end up shutting down and living a life of “quiet desperation”. That’s why I have uniquely designed counseling for men as a way to learn the tools necessary to get unstuck. This isn’t a touchy-feely approach where we sit around and sing campfire songs. Instead, we get under the hood, dig around and find practical solutions.

Here are just a few things that men typically work on:

: : A general sense of frustration with life and relationships
: : Help at being a better dad
: : Learning to be a better communicator
: : Work and career issues
: : Help with talking to your spouse/partner about sexuality and sexual needs
: : Spiritual Abuse Recovery
: : Addictions to porn or substances
: : Anger Management

While these are just some of the areas counseling can help you with, Counseling can help you get back on the road and living out of your full potential.

Women’s counseling can help you with many areas such as:

:: Depression and anxiety
:: Difficulty with sexuality and talking about sex
:: Being in a relationship with an addict

These are just some of the areas counseling can help you with.No need to suffer a moment longer. Contact me today and let’s get you back on track to living a life of joy and fulfillment.

Spiritual and Religious Abuse

Have you been hurt by the Church? Have you been let down by God? I know that pain well. I was raised in the Church and have struggled with issues of faith for decades.  I don’t have all the answers, but I am willing to walk with you in your recovery from Spiritual Abuse. I define Spiritual Abuse as any power, be it an institution or individual that threatens anyone with punishment unless you comply with their dogma. Spiritual Abuse Recovery is a path to true freedom from religiosity, dogma, and rules that are designed to keep silently suffering.

Spiritual Abuse often is responsible for:

:: Low self-esteem
:: Deep feelings of shame and worthlessness
:: Giving people over us too much power
:: Difficulty Setting Boundaries
:: Letting what other’s think about us control our behaviors
:: A deep internal feeling of loss and disconnection with the source of our joy and happiness

If you have been injured by the Church or an individual who represented the Church, schedule an appointment today.

Video-therapy is a great way to get the benefits of counseling without having to leave your home or office. Our counseling takes place over your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone and is secure, private and effective. This is great for doing counseling during a lunch break at work if you don’t want to fight traffic or trapped inside on a snow day. It also is great if you are located outside the Greater Portland area but still live in Oregon. If video-therapy sounds like something you would be interested in, lets set up an appointment and try it out. Video-therapy is covered by most insurance companies.

Rates, Fees and Cancelations

Insurance Information

Before we begin it’s important to understand my billing procedures and insurance verification.

If you wish to use your insurance we will need to determine your coverage prior to your first visit. You may be required to pay a co-pay at the time of service. You may also opt to not use insurance. If this is the case, payment is to be made in full at the time of service. If we are unable to determine your insurance prior to our first appointment, payment must be made in full at the time of service and you will need to work directly with your insurance provider to receive reimbursement.

NOTE: Insurance reimbursement is not available for Couples Counseling.

I am in-network with the following insurance companies:

Blue Cross Blue Shield
Pacific Source

If you have a different insurance company that listed above, such as Providence, United Health, MHN, Family Care or Moda, you can likely still use your insurance. Please call me at 503-804-4133 to see what your insurance will cover

Cancellation Policy

I need to talk to you about my cancellation and no-show policy. I want to make sure that there’s no miscommunication about it, and that you understand it and agree to it 100%. I want you to know that my cancellation policy is not a penalty or punishment. Ninety-nine point nine percent of my clients understand this. Very rarely, I’ll have a client who will feel that he or she is being punished when I charge them a late cancellation fee. I want to make sure that you don’t feel this way if someday you miss an appointment.

Truth be told, if you are in counseling long enough, at some point you might forget about an appointment, or something will come up in your schedule that will result in you missing an appointment. Maybe you’ll need to work late, maybe you can’t find a babysitter or your car will break down, or something unavoidable will come up. A canceled appointment delays our work. When you must cancel, please give me at least 24 hours notice. I am rarely able to fill a canceled session unless I know at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to provide at least 24 hours notice when you cancel, you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee unless I am able to fill it with another client.

I’m never upset with clients when they miss an appointment. I know that’s life. In return, my clients understand that scheduling an appointment with me is like buying tickets to an event. If you miss the event, it doesn’t matter why you missed it, or even if it was your first time, you can’t turn in your tickets for a refund.

For this reason, my policy requires that I keep your credit card on file and will charge your card $75 on the date of our scheduled appointment date.

Two “No Call, No Show” will result in termination of our treatment.

Your insurance company will not cover your late cancellation or no show.

Not Currently Accepting New Clients

I am not currently taking new clients through the end of the Summer. Please check back in September 2020
