COVID-19 UPDATED: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and my desire to support community health by ‘social distancing’ my offices will temporarily be providing services exclusively via online ‘video telehealth’ counseling sessions. If you have a scheduled appointment, it will become a video telehealth session where you will be able to have a live video session with your provider as long as you have a phone, computer or tablet with video capability.
Licensed Professional Counselor
Hi, I’m Chuck. I am a licensed professional counselor who serves Clackamas, Portland and the surrounding areas. I wasn’t always a counselor. In fact several years ago I found myself in a dark place full of pain. I had built a house of cards that quickly fell apart and when I looked in the mirror I loathed the guy looking back at me. I was hiding my true self from the people who love me, I felt alone, I felt afraid, and I felt like a fake.
Through my own therapy and recovery, I found there were reasons behind my behaviors. I learned ways to overcome my character flaws, and slowly I began to forgive myself and even came to the point where I liked who I had become. This experience was a gift and I dedicated myself to helping others and passing that gift on. My hopeful intent is to help people find freedom from guilt and shame and live from a place of authenticity and truth.
Today my life is amazing! I found the love and acceptance that I had longed for all my life. I am truly grateful to be living my dream and hope to help others come to the same place.
So here are some professional details about me….
I hold a B.S. Human Development from Warner Pacific College
I also hold an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from George Fox University
I am currently registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists and recognized as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of the American Counselor Association.

Rates, Fees and Cancelations
Before we begin it’s important to understand my billing procedures and insurance verification.
If you wish to use your insurance we will need to determine your coverage prior to your first visit. You may be required to pay a co-pay at the time of service. You may also opt to not use insurance. If this is the case, payment is to be made in full at the time of service. If we are unable to determine your insurance prior to our first appointment, payment must be made in full at the time of service and you will need to work directly with your insurance provider to receive reimbursement.
NOTE: Insurance reimbursement is not available for Couples Counseling.
******** IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY *******
I am in-network with the following insurance companies:
Blue Cross Blue Shield
If you have a different insurance company that listed above, such as Providence, United Health, MHN, Family Care or Moda, you can likely still use your insurance. Please call me at 503-804-4133 to see what your insurance will cover
CANCELLATION AND NO SHOW POLICY:
I need to talk to you about my cancellation and no-show policy. I want to make sure that there’s no miscommunication about it, and that you understand it and agree to it 100%. I want you to know that my cancellation policy is not a penalty or punishment. Ninety-nine point nine percent of my clients understand this. Very rarely, I’ll have a client who will feel that he or she is being punished when I charge them a late cancellation fee. I want to make sure that you don’t feel this way if someday you miss an appointment.
Truth be told, if you are in counseling long enough, at some point you might forget about an appointment, or something will come up in your schedule that will result in you missing an appointment. Maybe you’ll need to work late, maybe you can’t find a babysitter or your car will break down, or something unavoidable will come up. A canceled appointment delays our work. When you must cancel, please give me at least 24 hours notice. I am rarely able to fill a canceled session unless I know at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to provide at least 24 hours notice when you cancel, you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee unless I am able to fill it with another client.
I’m never upset with clients when they miss an appointment. I know that’s life. In return, my clients understand that scheduling an appointment with me is like buying tickets to an event. If you miss the event, it doesn’t matter why you missed it, or even if it was your first time, you can’t turn in your tickets for a refund.
For this reason, my policy requires that I keep your credit card on file and will charge your card $75 on the date of our scheduled appointment date.
Two “No Call, No Show” will result in termination of our treatment.
Your insurance company will not cover your late cancellation or no show.
I am not currently taking new clients through the end of the Summer. Please check back in September 2020
